Slightly swollen gums?

I recently started having slightly painful gums on my bottom 4 teeth; they did bleed a lot with pressure and they look slightly bruised between some of the teeth, but I think they have always kinda looked like that. I can't remember,but I started brushing a little more frequently and they stopped bleeding so easily, but the pain is still there. It's not excruciating pain, it's just enough to notice and on my top 2 canine teeth there is an EXTREMELY tiny brownish/black spot on each just below the gums, also on each of these 2 teeth the gums above them are a little swollen and red. Is there anything I should be concerned with here. I can barely get by on my own, let alone pay for a dentist bill if there is nothing to worry about.
