Why do I have stabbing pain in my groin and glut?

wherever I have been sitting for an amout of time go to step off, I get this excruciating pain in my left groin area and in my glut. It ever happen if I stand still and move,or walking all of a sudden stab its there again! this has been going on like a long time now.
