My mother who had a ruptured aneurysm in her brain is now stable awake and alert.?

She is still on a ventilator and they are working on weaning her off. She still cant talk and she only seems to recognize her children, not her grandchildren. Is this permanent or will she come back? She shows no emotion and looks like she is stoned or high, is this normal? Any input will help thank you so much.
