How does someone in intensive care and on machines get MRIs, CAT scans, etc?

If you're an icu patient and you're hooked up to a ventilator and all those tubes, how do you get to the machines and get these scans? Also, don't you have to hold your breath in some of those scans? Wouldn't that be hard?
